About

Although this is the “Forefront Blog” it is actually the thoughts, videos and jumping inside the head of me, Jason Bedell.  I’m the lead pastor of Forefront Church, but the views expressed in this blog are mine, and do not necessarily reflect the thoughts of the staff or people of Forefront.

I grew up in a Christian home, but hated going to church. Our parents encouraged my siblings and I to go, so we did, but all the while I wanted to be at home, with friends, or any place where they didn’t judge me and shove religion down my throat. As a teenager I rebelled against everything, latched on to punk rock and stuck a choice finger up at all authority (I later came to realize this was not the best life plan).

God began to move in my life and took me from a life path of skateboarding, painting and music and instead challenged me to go to Bible college. I didn’t quite fit in, but I knew God had a plan for me and something bigger.

In 1999, I started doing ministry and I never looked back. It’s been an amazing journey God has taken me on. In 2007, God moved my wife and I to do ministry differently and He pointed us straight to Forefront Church in Va Beach. From the moment I came on staff, we knew God was going to do amazing things. In, late 2008 I accepted the lead pastor position and the future is looking bright.  At Forefront we are about three things: Loving God, Loving People, and Turning the World Upside Down.  We’ve discovered that if you authentically and passionately love God and people, turning the world upside down just happens.

Currently we meet in two locations – two in High Schools on Sunday mornings, Ocean Lakes High School in Va Beach and Grassfield High School in Chesapeake.

I’ve been married to my wife Carrie since Sept of 2004, and we have a beautiful little girl, Chloe.

*Some people say I look a lot like this Cletus guy, but I’m not seeing it…
